Precautions for flow measurement of micro vacuum pumps
There is a significant difference between flow measurement and traditional measurement with weighing and measuring instruments. It is not simply a matter of connecting the flow meter and turning it on to achieve the measurement purpose. Because flow measurement is a measurement technique that strongly relies on usage conditions, the normal operation of flow instruments depends on:
1、 Environmental conditions (environmental temperature, humidity, vibration, etc.);
2、 Fluid conditions (temperature, humidity, pressure, composition, flow state, etc.);
3、 Other conditions such as power conditions.
Regarding the calibration of air pump flow, the calibration of air pump flow is measured when the air pump is not connected to any damping components (such as pipelines, valves, etc.), only in this way can the working capacity of the pump itself be truly reflected. Each customer will connect various pipes, valves, flow meters, etc. according to their own needs when using an air pump, forming a complete air circuit system. At this point, the gas flow rate of the system is not equal to the flow rate of the pump, as various gas circuit components will experience pressure loss, thereby attenuating the flow rate.
Regarding flow meters, some customers use pipelines to directly connect the flow meter to the pump to measure the flow rate of the pump. They find that the measured value is smaller than the calibrated value, and replacing different flow meters can result in different measurement results, because the flow meter itself also has pressure losses. Different flow meters have different pressure losses, resulting in different attenuation of flow rate, resulting in different test results. The commonly used glass rotor flowmeter by customers has pressure loss, which ranges from 2 to 10kPa.
Therefore, when determining the flow rate of the pump, appropriate margin should be left based on the resistance of the air circuit system.
